Version 5.2 Build 01

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.2.0119
- released February 2017
(hotfix for 5.2.0117 - released February 2017)

Database Updates

  1. Canadian PLC data correction: The Canadian PLC (Portland Lime Cement) data has been corrected. The Canadian PLC data was mistakenly copied from the Canadian PC (Portland Cement) data. This bug was introduced with the release of version 5.2.0116.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.2.0117
- released February 2017
(hotfix for 5.2.0116 - released December 2016)

General Changes

  1. Envelope & Opening Material Construction Effects: Construction Installation Process Effects due to Envelope and Opening materials were being underestimated for both Construction and Maintenance life cycle stages.
  2. Duplicate Assembly: An unhandled exception was being thrown when attempting to duplicate an assembly.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.2.0116
- released December 2016

General Changes

  1. Application Performance: Improved assembly and project level life cycle effect calculation time
  2. LEED v4 Whole Building LCA Report: This new feature is now available on the Rating System Reports form that automatically pre-fills and exports a LEED v4 template file with information from the IE for Buildings. After generating the report file, you only need to add the missing project specifics before submitting the completed file for the LEED v4 Whole Building LCA credit.
  3. Extra Materials by Assembly Group: This new feature provides you with the ability to specify extra materials by assembly group (Foundations, Floors, Roofs, Walls, Columns & Beams, and project level)
  4. BOM Import Utility:
    • To take advantage of the new Extra Materials by Assembly Group feature, the BOM Import Utility has been updated to permit mapping of imported material take-off rows directly to one of the extra material assembly groups
    • Improved the "Browse" experience by remembering the last browsed folder while the BOM Import Utility form is visible. This reduces the folder navigation required to pick a different material take-off file to load.
    • Corrected a bug that intermittently caused quantity summation error when a material take-off list contains multiple similar line items
    • Corrected a bug that caused the "Skip Zero Quantities" checkbox to always evaluate to false when re-loading material take off file(s) even though this checkbox had been checked.
  5. Bulk Product Projects: This new feature provides a single folder for IE4B project files that contain regionally relevant pre-defined Concrete Mix Designs.
  6. Project Load - Extra Material Substitution Quantity error: Corrected the algorithm that sets the quantity for an Extra Material assembly material from a legacy project when the legacy project contains multiple materials that have been replaced by newer materials.
  7. Project Load - Extra Material Replacement: Corrected the material being used to replace Concrete 60 MPa.
  8. Secondary Transportation Effects: Corrected a bug in the algorithms that calculates the transportation related secondary (pre-combustion) effects, the secondary transportation effects were being overestimated.
  9. User Defined Concrete Mix Design Library: Corrected a bug when the "Remove" button was selected for a User Defined Concrete Mix Design library record, the record was being removed even if the user selected "NO" when prompted to confirm the removal request.
  10. Project Level Table Reports by Assembly Group: Added option to specify the boundary condition (A to C) or (A to D).
  11. Project Level Chart Reports: Added option to specify the boundary condition (A to C) or (A to D).
  12. Aluminum Windows - Beyond Building Life: Corrected a bug where Module D Effects due to end of life scrap values were being overestimated for Aluminum Windows.
  13. Application Exit: When the application is requested to exit, each open project should be checked to see if it needs to be saved. If a project needs to be saved, a confirmation message is displayed. If "Cancel" is selected, the application exit request should be cancelled. This behaviour was not happening and has been corrected.
  14. Project Save: Corrected a bug where the application was inconsistently remembering the last saved file location. The file save target location not falls through the following folders:
    • Last Save
    • Last Open
    • User Documents
  15. Open an Empty Project File: Corrected a bug that caused an exception message to be displayed when an empty project was opened.
  16. Virtual or Lab Runtime Environments: Program and User file locations have been reorganized in order to better support roaming user profiles that are inherent with Virtual or Lab runtime environments. This update has been successfully tested using Remote Desktop to connect a normal (non-admin) user to a Windows Server 2012 R2 Remote Desktop Session. In particular, the following changes have been made to file locations:
    • Application Executable Files: C:\Program Files\Athena Institute\Impact Estimator for Buildings\
    • Application Supporting Files: C:\ProgramData\Athena Institute\Impact Estimator for Buildings\
    • Application User Files: C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Roaming\Athena Institute\Impact Estimator for Buildings\

In past versions, when the Impact Estimator for Buildings is installed in a lab (client-server) or virtual desktop session runtime environments, some of the user specific files were not being successfully installed in each user specific folder when the application ran for the first time. The offending files were only successfully installed in the user folder for the account under which the application was installed.

Workaround:The workaround for this was to download the ZIP file from here and decompress it in the user specific folder (e.g., C:\Users\YouUserAccount.YourDomain\Documents\Athena\Impact Estimator for Buildings\). Once the ZIP file has been downloaded, you can choose to use Group Policy Objects or a copy script to accomplish wide distribution of these files.
