  1. Maintenance Life Cycle Stage Effects : Effects due to municipal sanitary landfill processes for materials sent to landfill during the Maintenance life cycle stage were being over estimated.
  2. Construction Waste Effects : Effects due Construction Waste materials were being overestimated (1% to 2%) during Construction and Maintenance life cycle statges.
  3. Assembly Group Next and Previous Buttons : With an assembly node or an assembly group node selected in the tree view and a report form active in the main panel, an unhandled exception error was being displayed when either of the Previous or Next buttons was clicked.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0123 - released January 2015
(hot fix for 5.0.0121 - released January 2015)

General Changes

  1. Pre-Defined Database Library Composite Product Records : Results for pre-defined database library composite product records were wrongly being multiplied by a density correction factor which is causing inflated results. The list of affected material records includes the following:
    • 2" Insulated Metal Panel
    • 3" Insulated Metal Panel
    • Bolts, Fasteners, Clips
    • Galvanized Decking
    • Galvanized Studs
    • Hollow Structural Steel
    • MBS Metal Roof Cladding - Commercial (24 Ga.)
    • MBS Metal Roof Cladding - Commercial (26 Ga.)
    • MBS Metal Wall Cladding - Commercial (24 Ga.)
    • MBS Metal Wall Cladding - Commercial (26 Ga.)
    • MBS Primary Frames
    • MBS Secondary Components (purlins,girts,bracing)
    • Metal Roof Cladding - Residential (30 Ga.)
    • Metal Wall Cladding - Commercial (26 Ga.)
    • Metal Wall Cladding - Residential (30 Ga.)
    • Nails
    • Open Web Joists
    • Screws Nuts & Bolts
    • Steel Tubing
    • Welded Wire Mesh / Ladder Wire
  2. User Defined Concrete Mix Design - Mixed up Units : Now correcting for situation where user defined concrete mix design records were saved in SI but the units of measure for the product and components remained in Imperial (or vice-versa).

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0121 - released January 2015
(hot fix for 5.0.0118 - released December 2014)

General Changes

  1. Columns and Beams - WF Beam Algorithms: Updated the Wide Flange Section (WF) beam algorithms. An error was detected in the July 2014 release, which did not allow users to input a supported span greater that 12m (40ft). This was corrected and the structural calculations were adjusted accordingly for the January 2015 release. Any projects created in previous versions should load properly, but you can expect some different results in the Bill of Materials for Wide Flange Sections.
  2. Columns and Beams - WF Gerber Column & Beam Type Options: Fully retired Wide Flange Gerber (WF Gerber) Column and Beam options. Previous version 5.0 releases replaced WF Gerber with WF when a project was loaded, but did not restrict users from selecting WF Gerber as a Column Type or as a Beam Type. WF Gerber is no longer available for selection as a Column Type or Beam Type.
  3. Selected Tree Node on Project Close: When a project is closed the application root node is automatically selected. Users are expecting the next available project tree node to be selected. This behaviour has been modified.
  4. Select Material from Database: Fixed bug in the Select Material from Database form that was incorrectly filtering out materials.
  5. User Defined Concrete Mix Design: Added code to project load module that checks for user defined concrete mix designs that do not contain component materials.
  6. User Defined Concrete Mix Design: Improved algorithm that searches the library for matching user defined concrete mix design records when a project is being loaded.

Database Changes

  1. Gasoline Fuel Production Emissions: Corrected Gasoline production emissions values.
  2. Steel Roof Cladding Lifespan: Updated lifespan for all steel roof cladding materials for all building types to 60 years from 45 years.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0118 - released December 2014
(hot fix for 5.0.0115 - released November 2014)

Changes & Issues Addressed:

General Changes

  1. Reallocated all Effects due to Steel End of Life Net Scrap Value Manufacturing to from Construction and Replacement life cycle stages to Beyond Building Life: In accordance with European LCA standards EN 15804/15978, the net avoided emissions or burdens associated with recycling steel waste during construction process and use stages has been moved to module D. Similar effects for the end of life stage were moved to module D in a previous build
  2. User Defined Concrete Mix Design: Fixed component contribution type errors for Percent by Weight and Unit Quantity. Updated the user interface to always preserve the values and display all three contribution types. Users should verify all of their existing User Defined Concrete Mix designs.
  3. User Defined Concrete Mix Design - report refresh : Changes made to any User Defined Concrete Mix Designs do not cause automatic refreshing of reports that are open for projects that contain updated material information.
  4. BOM Import Utility: Added the ability to skip all rows that have zero quantity value.
  5. BOM Import Utility: Corrected an error that wrongly imported some row quantities as zero.

Reporting Changes

  1. Rating System Comparison Reports: Corrected a graphing error when displaying negative values.
  2. Report Consistency: Corrected minor discrepancy errors between tabular and graphical reports.

Database Changes

  1. Demolition Energy Values: Corrected demolition energy values for concrete blocks and pre-cast concrete panels.
  2. Conversion to Tonnes: Updated the conversion to tonnes values for large dimension softwood lumber and pre-cast panel.
  3. End of Life Scrap Value: Updated the End of Life Net Scrap Value factors for Nails, Welded Wire Mesh, Screws Nuts and Bolts, Wide Flange Sections, Open Web Joists, Rebar, Galvanized Sheet, Steel Plate, and Wire Rod.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0105 - released August 2014

Changes & Issues Addressed:

  1. User Defined Concrete Mix Design: The Concrete Fly Ash radio button group failed to initialize properly when opening an assembly in edit mode for assemblies that had user defined concrete mix design(s) selected when the assembly was last saved. This caused an exception to be thrown and the corresponding error message to be displayed when the form was saved using the OK button.
  2. Report Refresh: When an assembly is modified, it should cause any open reports that were generated for the project that owns the assembly to be refreshed. This behaviour was not consistently happening when a project contained multiple assemblies.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0103 - released July 2014

Changes & Issues Addressed:

  1. Numeric Input Validation Errors: The version 5.0.0101 release introduced a new unit conversion precision of 10 decimal places to overcome unit conversion rounding errors. However, the form validation code only supports up to 6 decimal places. When Imperial units are used on an assembly input form, form validation fails and generates an error since there are more than 6 decimal places in the converted value.

Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings 5.0.0102 - released July 2014

Changes & Issues Addressed:

  1. Product Manufacturing Effects: A bug was fixed in the algorithm for calculating product manufacturing effects when for some steel products when added in Extra Basic Materials.

  2. User Defined Concrete Mix Design Library - validation error for Assembly forms: An error message was being displayed when the Columns & Beams form was loaded and when no User Defined Concrete Mixes were yet defined. A similar situation occurred for the Bill of Materials Import Utility and other assembly forms that were dependent on the User Defined Concrete Library.
  3. Columns and Beams:
    • Updated the Wide Flange Section (WF) beam algorithms.
    • Retired Wide Flange Gerber (WF Gerber) Column and Beam options.
