Pavement LCA Toolbar

You can interact with the Pavement LCA via the Menu bar, the Toolbar, or the Tree Control Window.

A subset of the options for manipulating projects and their contents that is available in the Tree Control Window are also available through the Toolbar.

The Pavement LCA toolbar provides a set of buttons for quickly performing often repeated functions. Each member of the common toolbar is detailed below.

Report Toolbar members:

New:
Selecting this option allows the user to create a new project.

Open:
Selecting this option allows the user to open a project file that has previously been saved to a file on the computers hard disk. If the project being loaded was created using older version of the Pavement LCA, then the file will be interogated and a warning message will be displayed detailing which assemblies you may need to validate because of updates and whether the project contained any extra materials that are no longer supported and were subesequntly removed from the project.

When a project is loading, one of the file validation steps is to import the Custom Material Composite Product Library records that were used in the project. This is an important step that is meant to ensure that Composite Product records used in a specific project are transferrable when a project is shared between different users each having different Composite Product Libraries. If a conflict is encountered between a Composite Product that is embedded in the proect file and an existing Composite Product Library record, the "Custom Material Composite Product Library Record Conflict Resolution" dialog will be automatically launched.

Close:
Selecting this option allows the user to close a selected project. If the selected project has been modified or was newly created, the user will asked to save the changes. This option is available only if one or more projects are open.

Close All:
Selecting this option allows the user to close all currently open projects. Before being closed, each open project is checked to see if it has been modified. If a project has been modified or was newly created, the user will asked to save the changes before the project is closed. This option is available only if one or more projects are open.

Save:
Selecting this option allows the user to save the currently active project. If the project is a new project the user will be asked to specify a file and directory pathway to which to save the project. If the project is one that has been opened from a file the project will be saved back to that same file. This option is available only if one or more projects are open and one project is active.

Save All:
Selecting this option allows the user to save all open projects. For new projects the user will be asked to specify a directory and filename that they wish to save the project to. For projects that were opened from a file will be saved to that same file without notification. This option is available only if one or more projects are open.

Copy:
Selecting this option allows the user to copy an assembly object from one project for pasting into another open project. This option is only available if two or more projects are open and an assembly object (i.e., an Assembly [A] level node) is selected. Note: This option is not available for Extra Basic Materials.

Paste:
Selecting this option allows the user to paste an assembly object from one project for pasting into another open project. This option is only available if two or more projects are open, an assembly object in one project has been selected and the "Copy" button has been selected, and then a different project has been selected to receive the copied assembly via the "Paste" function. Note: This option is not available for Extra Basic Materials.

Add:
Selecting this option allows the user to add an assembly. This option is only available when an assembly object is selected. Selecting this option will open the "Add Assembly" dialog where the "Assembly Type" (i.e., "Mixed Columns and Beams") will be the same as the selected assembly object. Note: When this button is selected with an active Extra Basic Material node, the Modify form is opened for the active Extra Basic Material.

Modify:
Selecting this option allows the user to modify a project or assembly object. This option is only available when either an assembly object is selected or a project object is selected.

Duplicate:
Selecting this option allows the user to duplicate a project or assembly object. This option is only available when either an assembly object is selected or a project object is selected. If this option is selected when an assembly object is selected, then the assembly object is duplicated within the same project. If this option is selected when a project object is selected, the project is duplicated and the new duplicated project is added to the Tree Control. Note: This option is not available for Extra Basic Materials.

Delete:
Selecting this option allows the user to delete a project or assembly object. This option is only available when either an assembly object is selected or a project object is selected.

Previous:
Selecting this option allows the user to open and/or navigate to the previous "Modify Assembly" dialog in the list of Assemblies belonging to the currently selected Assembly Group or the Assembly Group corresponding to the currently selected assembly object. If the "Modify Assembly" dialog for the previous assembly in the "Assembly Group" is not yet open, selecting this option will cause it to open and gain focus. This option is only available when either an assembly object or an assembly group object is selected.

Next:
Selecting this option allows the user to open and/or navigate to the next "Modify Assembly" dialog in the list of Assemblies belonging to the currently selected Assembly Group or the Assembly Group corresponding to the currently selected assembly object. If the "Modify Assembly" dialog for the next assembly in the "Assembly Group" is not yet open, selecting this option will cause it to open and gain focus. This option is only available when either an assembly object or an assembly group object is selected.

Help:
Selecting this option allows the user to launch the Help File viewer.
